Common Factory Blemishes and Mold Release Marks

Every BearVault canister is hand finished and inspected at our facility in Louisville, Colorado. We aim to produce the highest quality bear canisters to keep your adventure going.

Before returning a bear canister, it’s important to note that some factory blemishes and marks are commonplace. We do our best to minimize these marks, but the manufacturing process may result in slight imperfections in the plastic.

Mold Release Marks

When bear canisters are released from the mold, they typically leave 4 shallow notches around the upper lip. These are not cracks and do not weaken the plastic structurally.

Mold Parting Lines

Each BearVault is made in a mold where several metal pieces open and close, often forming a thin line. This is typical and is not a crack or a weakness in the plastic.

Thicker Plastic at Canister Opening

BearVault canisters have a hand-finished edge running around the top opening. This edge varies in thickness, with thicker sections in some areas. This may appear as a bulge ofplastic. This is typical and not a sign of weakness in the plastic. The edge should be smooth and free of sharp protrusions.

Other Surface Scratches, Water Marks, and Blemishes

Below are samples of factory blemishes and scratches that may occur. While we aim to keep these marks to a minimum, they do sometimes happen when hand finishing your bear canister. Please know that they do not weaken the plastic.

We will not replace a canister with one that has any of the above factory blemishes. If you have any questions about these common factory marks, please email us at support@bearvault.com

If your canister has other damage or issues, please continue with the warranty form so that we can take a look at your BearVault.
